South Gate, Los Angeles County
South Gate lies about seven miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles, with the Los Angeles River along its eastern side. The azalea is the official city flower, and an Azalea Festival has been held each spring since 1965. South Gate Park, at nearly a hundred acres, holds the municipal auditorium, a golf course and most of the big community events.
